Maya's Daydreams

Why have a manifesto... I have been on the internet for a long time. I have seen it change in my lifetime to something that I couldn't recognize anymore. I found neocities and the indie web while trying to find an alternative to wordpress when I got an email that my bluehost bill for the year was going to be $400!! I had only ever really used Wordpress or blogger in the past, and I mainly paid for the webhosting so that I could customize my website because I didn't realize that I had other options. I didn't want to give up on owning my own webpage/ corner of the internet because to me, that's what the internet was for! I have been searching the internet for weeks before I finally came across neocities and jekyll and the small web. I was actually reading about digital gardens because of my love of obsidian (my vault will eventually be linked here, which i'm super excited about!)

social media... I am not alone in how I feel about social media. I barely log on nowadays, but it used to suck the life out of me. It felt like the only way to interact with people, find interesting art, etc.

be gentle
